another monday. weekend wasn't too bad at all. we planned on going to ship island sat., but ended up going yesterday. it turned out nice....calm waters, no crowds, warm but not hot, dolphins playing just off-shore, crazy-ass fish that were trying to be flish and hopping out of the water around us. we both had a good time. rest of the weekend was good as well.
in my absence of checking slashdot this weekend, i missed a pretty sweet article / link regarding the ps2 and "modding." apparently, a modchip is no longer needed to play burned games...well, not exactly...there's still quite a few steps that need to be done before it'll actually work, but it's still cool that someone figured it out.
on to the subject of this post...it seems that around this time of year (recently especially) i get the wild idea to put linux on one of my machines...in fact, my last attempt is still active, but not used. anyway, i was going through linux the mainstream way and using the tried-and-true "face versions" such as mandrake or redhat. this time, however, i've decided to go with slackware, the purest form of linux left. it hasn't been changed away from its original purpose in the 10 years it's been around. it even installs by way of a text-driven system. maybe this is the type of linux i've been looking for. i've heard this version is extremely customizable (moreso than other linuxes, or is it linuces?). anyway, that's my goal for the near future: slackware installed and a sweet interface powered by x. that should be all for now. more news later....out.
