- iggy pop is not dead...tommy went to see him last year -
Filed - Just about Everything

as you may notice, the title mentions iggy pop...why, you ask? 106.7 announced yesterday that a new act had been added to the saturday night show of voodoo fest. that act is none other than the legendary iggy pop. too bad there aren't that many other good bands on saturday or i'd be going. needless to say, i'll still be trying to get to the sunday show and they do have individual day tickets for $30. a funny thing about the iggy pop news is that people missed the announcement and called into the radio station thinking they missed the announcement of some crappy "pop" rock band like saliva or nickelback. however, when they found out that it was iggy pop that was announced, their reply was almost always a "oh...thanks" in the tone of voice that means "yeah, i've never heard of that guy...i bet he sucks...too bad it's not some shitty band like my favorite nickelback, creed, saliva, puddle of ass, ::insert crappy popular rock band name here::"

penny arcade has quite a bit of news. first of all, today's comic is about the "dune-lite" books, as they have now been dubbed, particularly the newest installment, butlerian jihad, which i am currently reading. you know, i do have to agree with what tycho is saying. these new dune books, while being superfluous and somewhat interesting because they deal with the "history" of the originals, are just not what you would expect after reading the originals. sure, they're decently written, but they are nowhere near as intricate or deep as the originals. i don't know if i'd go as far as tycho says in the comic, but the basis of what he's saying is definitely true. another bit of penny arcade news is the opening of their online store. i want things from that place, namely the punctuation friends t-shirt, but they also have one bearing the "it's not my fault you suck" slogan and a hoodie that jessica thinks everyone should have at least one of (not the penny arcade one, just a hoodie in general).

finally, mozilla had a nice set of releases today: firebird (phoenix), thunderbird (minotaur), and the actual mozilla suite all had new releases. i'm setting up the former two as i type. should be it for now...out.
