I read How I Became Stupid by Martin Page. I think it was this guy's first novel. it felt like it when I read it. Not that its a bad thing. The book is very short, 160 pages, i think. I started reading it and the characters automatically pulled me into their situations. The plot was intriguing and moved quite quickly, until the end. The end really didn't make sense to me. It kind of takes a different turn that what you would expect it to. The situation was just resolved by an intervention and then life went on as oddly as normal. I think Martin could have explained why the character did what he did a little more. Spruce it up a bit. The resolution needed to be more of a resolution. The whole time I was reading the book I was thinking "I wonder what is going to happen in the end." And then the end shows up and it was a "that's it?" feeling.
