pop culture whore

I was watching the Best of Bowie DVD yesterday, and it hit me when i saw him vogue-ing in the 'Fame 90' video directed by Gus Van Sant. David Bowie can be traced back to all forms of pop culture. He is a pop culture whore, as it were. From the 1960's to today he is still David Bowie, yet he has the uncanny ability to move with the times. That is someone who knows what trends are going on where and for how long. He is in tune with what is going on today and that is why he is paid the big bucks. Granted I never saw anyone in 1990 vogue-ing who wasn't making fun of Madonna, but I am sure in the "trendy" crowd it was the "cool" thing to do. Nope. You just look and sound like an idiot, David Bowie, however, does not, in my opinion, except when he vogues.
I had a pleasant birthday. I didn't get a chance to go and see any of my friends this weekend, really, but I will try to correct that this week before I go on my honeymoon this weekend. Joel and I went to this wonderful place to eat, Tigre's. It is the best food on the coast, hands-freekin'-down. A little pricey (like $80 for two people to have appetizers, entres and drinks) but good god is it ever worth it. If you are ever in the mood to get dressed up and go out to eat fine, fine food, go there. You will not be disappointed. Everything on the menu is delicious. Everything. Even if you don't like something normally (like calamari or scallops for example), it will be tastey, I promise.
While we were at Tigre's there were two guys and a girl sitting at the bar. Something happened where the girl got a drink spilt on her (I don't know if she did it or one of the guys knocked it over.) and she got quite angry. She walked out and about 10 minutes later the guys left thinking she had left, too. Well she came back in after another 10 minutes and was upset that the guys had left her so she proceeded to cry on the telephone for the next 15 minutes until she finally left. Full moon, wierd people. The owner of Tigre's sent complimentary food over to a table who was literally right next to the threesome and apologized for the interruption. How nice is that. All about atmosphere.
Joel just sent me a link to some pics the hubble sent in from the deepest region of space that we have been too. It doesn't show too much, but it is cool anyway, b/c it's space, the final frontier.
