I don't want to go off on a rant here....
but there is currently legislation being considered for a new rating system for movies. Fox News, the reputable journalism site that it is, (conservatively speaking) reports that lawmakers are trying to pass legislation that would cause movies that depict smoking to get an "R" rating. You know what? That pisses me off. If they do that then they should not depict eating or fat people on screen. Obesity is the new killer, so there should at least be a warning before food or someone of stout stature comes on screen. Warning: chick from The Practice is about to come into the frame. Eating excessivey can cause multiple chins, large ass, heart problems, looks similar to this woman, and possibly death. Eat with caution
We all know how bad smoking is for our health, but people do it anyway. I used to smoke. I quit and I feel better for it, but it doesn't mean that I have to go around telling people not to smoke. I figure everyone has their own reasons and if they didn't really want to smoke, they wouldn't. The lawmakers are worrying about teens and young people picking up smoking from the movies. Hey, lawmakers, there are people that help teens and young people figure things out. Yeah, they are called parents. Why don't you start implimenting things like family planning and sex education so stupid fuckers don't have children. More than that, why don't we have some sort of universal health plan so that we can get free birth control when we want it and good care when we are sick? But that is a different rant all together.....
I love you and I WILL KICK YOUR ASS A KR!
So there.
I think movies with small children in them who are not Malori should have an R rating; and a disclaimer of some insulting sort. I'm going to draft a bill.
