Da Beach House in Bay St Louis had a poetry reading and it was more successful than I thought. We had about 6 writers read and we had maybe ten observers at any given time. For the first one I think it went really well, especially considering that Diane, who put it together, wasn’t able to make it. She was still in New York, but called us to tell us what was going on. They had found something abnormal in the last mammogram she had, and a biopsy had to be done on it. She will be home Saturday and hopefully everything will be okay, cause cancer sucks. I met new people and everyone had a good time.
A few of us are going to try the Goldmine Saloon again Thursday, so hopefully that will be successful.
My summer is shaping up, I think. Hopefully I can get out of this static slump I’m in. I am excited about the literary readings. I am also excited about a small writing gig I got. I was asked to write reviews for a documentary films website, and I am very happy about that, especially now that I have rediscovered documentary films. I just watched The Corporation and Out Foxed and am currently watching Where Are We? Our Trip Through America. For the first review, which is probably the one that will seal the deal, I can choose whatever I want. I have to look around and see if there is anything coming out or that is already out I can get a hold of.
The job hunt continues, but I won’t talk about that, cause it’s depressing.
Later.
Good luck on your job interview...I look forward to joining the Real World someday.
