Being employed by The Weather Channel does not equal any kind of sense about catastrophic weather conditions. Yes, we are aware of the possible damage that comes with storms like that. We live on the freekin' Gulf Coast. It comes with the zipcode. It is a chance we all take. People in Florida need to be used to this by now. Living on the limp dick of America sets you up for all kinds of trouble; so why act so surprised when all the hurricanes that form take a trip to Disney World? We on the rest of the Coast are glad you're there, it makes things slightly easier for us. Once a storm hits you, if it does decide to hit us, it is significantly weakened. I love how the "meteorologist" on the weather channel get excited and start dispatching their cronies to the various places along the water front, each one talking about how dangerous it is going to be, the wind is going to pick up anytime now, and the rain will fall and things will be hot and wet and windy; each one hoping that they will be the one in the middle of the storm. Its strange and almost erotic. The Weather Channel does have a hard-on for hurricane season, and they get every last drop out of it. When do you watch the weather channel around here if it isn't between the months of June and November? Yeah, you don't. Weather around here isn't what you'd call predictable. It could be gorgeous and sunny one minute,(and it is now) and have torrential rains and winds the next (that will probably happen tomorrow evening). Never believe the weatherman. They can predict that it will rain for the next two weeks and we won't see a drop of water for two months.
People have already started the mass exodus out of the south, so those of us still here have no way to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. I am staying here this time. Last time was too much and the Hurricane is'nt much of a threat now. The winds aren't over 150 mph, and that's fine with me.
It is amazing to think that by the end of the weekend there is a possibility that everything you know, everything you take for granted, will be gone. Nothing but shreds and splinters left. In the words of The Weather Channel, too bad for the Cubans, Haitians, and the Dominicans; good news for us.
can you make that font a little smaller? i'm trying to turn myself into john milton by reading your blog.
i was just making fun of the weather channel right as i opened your page. the desk guy connected to three of the rain coat guys at the same time and they all started babbling at once. fucking losers. LOSERS!
