WMD exist on my transcript

Weapon of mass destruction to my GPA? Eco 201. As in i bombed my test that i wasted 4-5 hours of my life studying for. I understand the concepts, but I apparently don't know how to apply said concepts.
My grades will probably look as follows:
Eng473: A
Rel131: A
Soc101: A
Eco201: F
Something is out of place, you tell me what. Bah!
There is an old lady with a pollen yellow dress on top of the periodicals that stares into the computer lab and it is unsettling. She is a statue or figure of some sort, but she looks like my American Women Writers professor which is kind of odd. I think she is looking at me telling me that I should read more Edith Wharton or Kate Chopin. No thank you.
I have been married for a month now, and I feel no different than I did before. I am tired of filling paperwork out, though, but in time that too shall pass.
The Great Escape=The Great Movie.
Steve McQueen=Coolness
2:00=Class
class=later....

go Plath yourself

The Hulk was a waste of my time. Not a complete waste, my husband and I did spend time together and we did make Shrek, Labyrinth, and cheesey hulk (the comic book, which in my opinion, originally, wasn't all that intriguing to begin with, but I am sure with new writers and how technology is advancing art wise there has to be a good run or two out there somewhere.) jokes, but the movie isn't really anything beyond that. I may have liked League of Extraordinary Gentleman better, but that movie was a pile of dog doo-doo, too. Character development? We don't need no stinkin' character development. We have Tom Sawyer. What?! I have read the first few issues of that comic (League) and it is quite cool. Unlike the movie which is quite not. Along the comic-book-to-movie note I watched Blade 2 (electric boogaloo) last night as well and I have to say that was actually good. Now, I haven't read the comics (I am thinly read in the comic department, but can hold my own I think) but i enjoyed the movie. The first movie was well done, too. The second had more action, nicer plot, cooler gadgets and, well, more action. The guy who directed it, his first name escapes me but his last name is Del Toro, also directed Hell Boy which looks quite cool as well. It is very awesome to see Ron Perlman in a starring role. He is not recognized like I think he should be. Ever see City of Lost Children? Yeah. He is a cool guy in my opinion.
I was reading Premier magazine while being bored at work and saw an article on a documentary I would like to see. I thought it was new, but acording to the Internet Movie Database it was made last year. It is called Bukowski: Born into This. It is a documentary about Charles Bukowski and how he was a multi-faceted man. People often have the misconception that he was a hard ass guy. Drunk, high, and generally messed up, but the documentary sheds a little more light into his life and shows us that, yes, he was those things, but so much more.

Since I was a very small child I have always been fascinated with how other people live. For example: When driving at night, I have a compulsion to look into peoples' lit living room windows to see what they are watching on television, or if that have any pictures on the walls, or if they are sitting at their computers. Just general information one can get while passing in a car down a residentail drive. The yellow light in the window always gave me a warm feeling, like home. I wonder about the places that have bare walls. No memories. For instance, in our place there are many different things on the walls and on display. Collages I made my husband, pictures of Eddie Izzard in drag, a wall full of posters from various movies (Lord of the Rings, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Requiem for a Dream, X-Men, Nosferatu, Dogma, Mallrats, Clerks, Matrix, Trainspotting...) comic books and comic promo posters(Wolverine: Orgin, Hulk, Spiderman, Cat Woman...) video game and band posters (Sonic the Hedghog, Lunar, NIN, Alice in Chains, Jerry Cantrell) not to mention momentos from shows Joel has done (Grease, A Chorusline...) and pictures of my family and friends are scattered around the room. All of these things plus more define who we are. Our walls and our room are expressions of ourselves. I think it creates a healthy environment. What would someone see if they passed our window? (which is an improbability unless their names happen to be Harry Potter, Hermione Granger or one of the Weasleys on their brooms since we are on the second floor) The would see poster wall paper and video games and movies on our tele. They would see two very content people.
I am not by any means stating that in order for one to have a stable environment you have to cover your walls in stuff, I am just saying surround yourself with things that make you happy, things that make you warm. Nothing will come out of surrounding yourself with darkness; sad, depressing songs, and bad poetry other than utter misery and your head in the oven.

News Flash

As it is Saturday morning at the library I have been surfing around trying to kill time and find interesting things. I have been going to Fark lately and it is usually a really good source for news and information of all kinds. For instance I found this story on Movieoke. It's like karaoke, but with movies. I think that it is a good idea. I don't know where or how we would do it, but it would be cool to have something like that go on around here, especially with the large theater community that is around. I think it could be fun and interesting.
This story was kind of scary, but at the same time funny. A guy goes into a police box in Japan with a live wartime bomb. Officials say "It's extremely dangerous for people who have no idea about explosives to hang around near bombs." I don't even think i need to put a "duh" there.
This poor woman was just trying to cook some fish sticks and she got shot in the leg! Someone had hidden a gun in her oven so when she was heating it to cook the fish sticks it went off and shot her in the leg. Strange.
Hehe. Dinosaur ass print. No lie. These paleontologists found an imprint of a dinosaur's ass in Utah. The have no idea what prompted the dinosaur to sit down, but they find it rather interesting, as do i.
This is kind of messed up. This family's house was raided for pot just beacuse their electric bill was high and they put their trash out at the last minute. No lie. It's an interesting point on behalf of the police department, but I don't think any of those things would give them probable cause....well, the article did say that the drug dog showed interest in the house when they did a walk by, and that gives probable cause (thank you CJ classes), but that dog could have picked up something that was on the bottom of someone's shoe who walked by the house.
This is way cool. Japan releases giant robot. this robot weighs about 5 tons, and it looks cool. Terminator style.
Ok. thats about it for me. Later all...

weight in movies

I have lost 10 lbs and the doc says I am doing great. My sugar levels are stabilizing and with that weight off it will help my body process the insulin it is getting. I have quit smoking. I didn't really smoke too much to begin with, but I have just cut myself off and it hasn't been bad at all. My urge to smoke is gone. I am eating healthier (relatively) and I feel awesome. None of my clothes fit anymore, but I feel awesome.
I figured out that I need 5 more classes to graduate. Unfortunately the Nazi school I go to doesn't really offer them at convienient times so I will have to go to school through next spring to finish. I could take some classes at the main campus up in Hattiesburg but #1 the drive sucks (an hour of nothing but pine trees, redneck store, pine trees, pecan house, pine trees giant rebel flag, and more pine trees) and #2 Hattiesburg sucks. I may do that though, I haven't totally thought it out yet. If I decide to do that I may graduate a semester earlier. That equals smiles. :-)
Joel and I went and saw Dawn of the Dead. It was pretty good as Zombie movies go. Very suspense filled, as opposed to cheap scares. The special effects were nicely done as well (make-up and 'splosions). Joel and I went on a mini DVD spree and bought the original one, but have yet to see it. I watched the first 10 or 15 minutes or so and it is pretty cheesey. This guy's head explodes, which is kinda cool in a cheap 1970s type way. I am wanting to go and see The Passion. Someone donated a really nice pair of books on it to my library and I was thumbing through them and it made me want to see it. Perhaps I can get Joel to take me this weekend, but I don't know when we would have the time. Well, its about that time. Later.....

fan of cyclops

Ok. So I won't be going to David Bowie, but it isn't for lack of trying. His show sold out in 10 minutes. 10 MINUTES!!! Dammit. He isn't getting any younger you know, and I would like to see him before his 10th farewell tour on his 90th birthday.
Joel and I just returned from our honeymoon last night. It was very nice. We will post pictures soon I am guessing. I let Joel do that stuff so it looks nice. He got sick on our way there, his sinuses were kicking his ass, but that didn't slow him down too much.
On our way to Tennessee we stopped in Birmingham, AL to spend some time with Kristyn and Bryan. It was very cool to get to see Bryan when there weren't 10 teeny-boppers in a small living room screaming about how long it has been since they have seen Kristyn. Very nice to be able to just hang out in a dank and dark pub and listen to Frank Sinatra? Yeah, Frank Sinatra. How do the Irish feel about Frank Sinatra? I am not sure. I just know my dad loves him, and he's arabic.
We got to Tennessee... eventually. okay. I took a wriong exit and ended up in Deliveranceville, but Joel, being the GIS expert that he is, procured an atlas and got us back on track. Good thing, too. It was starting to get just a little scary. It was a scenic detour, though.
Once we got where we needed to go, we met up with my brother and went out to lunch with him and his fiance. She works at the Ripley's Aquarium so we got to go there to check out the new exhibit of "They Abyss". It was cool. You can't have too many creatures from the abyss in an aquarium, though, but they did have a few cool animals that are able to survive in tanks. We got to go behind the scenes, too and saw where they prep the food for the animals and how they feed them (thru cool Jetson-like tubes. It gets sucked from the prep room into the tanks, its pretty cool) They showed us sick animals they were trying to help, and the holding area for extra animals that they don't have room for in the tanks or animals that don't play well with others. They send those animals off to other aquariums. It was very neat.
We played goofy golf and then went into the National Park and it was freekin' cold. There was snow still on the trees as we went up the mountain. We got out of the car at Newfound Gap and a gust of wind hit us and we decided to go back in the car. We were not prepared for that weather. We stopped off at a quiet walkway and walked around a bit further down the mountain, it wasn't as cold there, but it was still cold. Thats about it. Pictures to come later....

guilty pleasures

I leave for my honeymoon tomorrow and I can't wait.
David Bowie is coming to New Orleans in April. I will be there. Oh yes, I will be there. If only he would sing "Dance Magic". No chance of that happening, though, is there?
Me: Hey, David. Do you mind reliving the 80's and putting on those tights and Prince shirt of yours and prancing around like a fairy to sing a song from a Jim Henson movie?
David: No problem at all. Let me just go and get my wig and tights and I will be on stage to sing it for you.
Me: Oh, yeah, while you're back there, could you travel back in time so that you would be about 20 years younger and make sweet sweet love to me and my friend Shannon here. Don't mind our husbands, they will understand.
David: Sure, i will get my best physicists working on that traveling back in time problem right away and I will get back to you.

If only it were that easy.
I am excited. I am estatic. I have been smiling for the last two weeks. (give or take a mood or two)
I think everyone should be happy no matter what. At least try it on for size. No more teen/twentysomething angst. Leave that to the fanfic.
My thoughts:
-Gays should be able to get married. Why? Because I don't think that anything could soil the institution of marriage more than the Twentieth Century Fox Corporation. Let two people who truly love each other get married, no questions asked.
-Bush is an idiot. (What's new?)
-I don't like anyone who is running for political office right now. Jeesey Chreesey. At least give me a choice of puppets. (cough:beaurocracy!)
-With all the protests that are going on (locally for me with the USM controversy and around the world) don't undermine the group that opposes what you believe in. You are protesting and they are protesting and both sides have the right to be heard. If you berate them then you are denying them their right to free speech, and dammit, that is one of the only things we have left to do anything with. Careful or they will take it away from us. Ask Larry Flynt, he knows.
That is all. Have a good week and see you guys on the flip side. Later....

pop culture whore

I was watching the Best of Bowie DVD yesterday, and it hit me when i saw him vogue-ing in the 'Fame 90' video directed by Gus Van Sant. David Bowie can be traced back to all forms of pop culture. He is a pop culture whore, as it were. From the 1960's to today he is still David Bowie, yet he has the uncanny ability to move with the times. That is someone who knows what trends are going on where and for how long. He is in tune with what is going on today and that is why he is paid the big bucks. Granted I never saw anyone in 1990 vogue-ing who wasn't making fun of Madonna, but I am sure in the "trendy" crowd it was the "cool" thing to do. Nope. You just look and sound like an idiot, David Bowie, however, does not, in my opinion, except when he vogues.
I had a pleasant birthday. I didn't get a chance to go and see any of my friends this weekend, really, but I will try to correct that this week before I go on my honeymoon this weekend. Joel and I went to this wonderful place to eat, Tigre's. It is the best food on the coast, hands-freekin'-down. A little pricey (like $80 for two people to have appetizers, entres and drinks) but good god is it ever worth it. If you are ever in the mood to get dressed up and go out to eat fine, fine food, go there. You will not be disappointed. Everything on the menu is delicious. Everything. Even if you don't like something normally (like calamari or scallops for example), it will be tastey, I promise.
While we were at Tigre's there were two guys and a girl sitting at the bar. Something happened where the girl got a drink spilt on her (I don't know if she did it or one of the guys knocked it over.) and she got quite angry. She walked out and about 10 minutes later the guys left thinking she had left, too. Well she came back in after another 10 minutes and was upset that the guys had left her so she proceeded to cry on the telephone for the next 15 minutes until she finally left. Full moon, wierd people. The owner of Tigre's sent complimentary food over to a table who was literally right next to the threesome and apologized for the interruption. How nice is that. All about atmosphere.
Joel just sent me a link to some pics the hubble sent in from the deepest region of space that we have been too. It doesn't show too much, but it is cool anyway, b/c it's space, the final frontier.

Ferris Bueller

Joel tends to have an agenda at the begining of his entries to explain what the post is going to be about. Perhaps it will help my writing if I do that as well so that I stay on track.
agenda: Morgan Webb being a beautiful person, our president being a wretchedly horrible person, and the existance of God.

Morgan Webb, the co-host of the show X-Play on Tech TV, which I am sure everyone knows about from reading multiple other postings on this site, was on a ballot with I think three or four other women from Tech TV on Playboy's website. The ballot was for the "sexiest" woman on Tech TV and the winner would get an offer from Playboy for a spread. Morgan won the vote, but the numbers were so close that Playboy decided to extend the offer to all of them. Now, those women are not the type, in my opinion, to pose for Playboy, but it would sell a lot of copies if they were.
Morgan is the subject of many lude comments from the viewing public of Tech TV I am sure. Yes, i think she is very sexy, but beneath her beautiful physique there is an innocence about her that I like a lot and that is what attracts me to her as a woman. She is smart and headstrong. She knows what she wants and when she wants it. Not a lot of people are that lucky. I consider myself one of those lucky few. i knew at a relatively young age what I wanted to do and how I wanted to get there. ( side note: Now, there is a big difference between knowing what you want and how you want to get there and actually obtaining what you want and the methods that have to adapt to the little circumstances life likes to throw your way in order to get it.) Relatively speaking, I am right on track in my life, but I digress... The main point is that I respect Morgan as a person, and I think that if we were to ever meet, we would have a lot in common, gaming aside, even though games are a big part of her life/career.

Our President. I saw on CNN (how that station is for being a respectable place to get news from is still up for debate with me) Bush's new campaign commercial. A little background before I go on: September 11, 2001. Anyone who was able to comprehend what was going on at that time will remember that day for the rest of their lives. I know I will, but I have a beef with it. Yes it was horrible and tragic, and every other word you can find in a thesaurus under those headings, but lest we forget the atrocities of Pearl Harbor, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, the holocaust. Yes the attacks on September 11th were bad, but other things were equally if not more horrible. After 9-11 it seems that all other atrocities were forgotten. If it happened more than 25 years ago, what's the point in remembering, right? Wrong. History, if no one has been paying attention in their world civilization classes, is starting to repeat itself because we are being a bunch of dumb asses. ok, rant over, back to my point: Bush is using images from the 9-11 atrocity to try and get re-elected. I didn't get to see the whole thing or hear what was said, but it seemed to me that it was a sort of "Look what I did to get us through this. Aren't I awesome. Vote for me." When in reality all he has caused (his dad is just as responsible as he is in my opinion) is more death and destruction in the aftermath of...well..death and destruction. Like he caused the coming together of Americans. He divided us when we needed to come together. Pro-war, anti-war. He rules over us with fear and secrets. Beaurocracy, anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Moving on....Joel and I are going to attend a lecture at the college tonight about the existence of God. I think it is going to be quite interesting. If i write a paper about it I get extra credit in my religion class, but seeing as I already have an A, i think i will just go and enjoy the lecture and not worry about taking notes or anything. I would like to post what i think about it later. Next month there is going to be a symposium on The Passion. I would like to participate in that as well, but I have to see the movie first. I am about typed out right now. So much for staying on track. I have to get to class in a few anyway, so until then, later.....

leap day extravaganza

Haven't written in a while. Geee i wonder why.
Well, I am now Mrs. Jessica Herr. The wedding was perfect. i don't think i could have planned it any better than it was. Before the ceremony, when i was fully dressed and looked in the mirror, i completely lost it. I started crying and I didn't stop until we started taking pictures after the ceremony. I was sobbing the whole time. No one seemed to care that much. A bunch of people were crying just as much if not more than I was. The dinner afterward was awesome. The food was great, the staff at Steve's Marina were on the ball and were very nice and took care of everything. Joel and I managed to hang out with our friends and family that had made it to the dinner and had a good time. We got to go to the Oasis Hotel at Grand Casino around 8 pm. It was a very nice room (Thanks Jason and Criston). We went from there to the casino and Joel managed to win about $300 from the nickel slots off of the $20 we put in. Not bad. We played pool, drank, and gambled for about an hour and a half and then passed out in the room until 10 the next morning. The it was off to get my stuff so i could start moving in with Joel.
My friends and family were so supportive this weekend. I can't thank them enough. Joel's friends and family were awesome as well. You all know who you are. I love you guys and am glad you were there to share that wonderful day with me. I was a nervous wreck, shaking and trembling and crying, but everything was okay. Kurt took care of me while I was standing up there and I had Joel and my dad to hold on to. Joel's parents were awesome too. They made sure I was okay and everything was calm and that I had fun with it all, even through the tears. I totally freaked, but now everything is okay. I am still in a daze from it all, but I know for damn sure it will be a day I will not forget ever.
